The Swinxs is a rather neat little gadget/toy/console designed by Bugaboo founder, Eduard Zanen. Perfect for the 8 – 12 year old, the Swinxs blends traditional games with the latest technology, and here’s how…
Swinxs can talk, explain games, recognise players and even referee! Each player has their own coloured wristband with a microchip that communicates with Swinxs. 10 games are already loaded and more can be downloaded free from the website, alongside music and quizzes.
Some of the pre-loaded games include tag, musical chairs and hide and seek and make a welcome break from video game consoles as they encourage a little more physical exercise. You can have up to 10 players and play it just about anywhere!

Here’s an novel gift idea for business traveler – a mouse designed to work in the air or on a flat surface like a desktop. Developed by the leader in motion-sensing technology, the Gyration Air Mouse comes with something called MotionSense™.
“So what MotionSense™” I hear you say… well it basically means you can use the mouse in the air! Are you frustrated with nagging your kids to “come away from that video game” and hearing the argument back that it’s great for their “hand to eye co-ordination”…
Well if they like fast, fun video games they are going to love the iCoaster. We’ve been reviewing a set here and must say that it’s oodles of fun (and I’m 35!!!).

We took a look at “The Shopaholics Top 1000 Websites” yesterday. Today it’s the turn of “The Gift Book” by Patricia Davidson.
This book is very much a focus on gift occasions, with a little background on each followed by some sage recommendations of where to make your purchase online.
I found the wedding section particularly handy.... There are also gift recommendations under themes like “Bookworm”, “Boy Racer” and “Pampered Princess” under which you could probably pigeon hole most people.
There is also a “special occasion reminder section” that provides details of websites that do just that. Handy if you’re a bit of an airhead like me.
