Ok… I appreciate an ironing board is not the first thing you think about when it comes to gifts.. in fact if you turned up with one of these wrapped up it may just get you a slap… BUT this is no ordinary ironing board cover! This is a Betty Jackson!

Who is Betty Jackson… well she’s only one of the UK’s leading fashion designers, now you see why this is so special!

These little beauties are available in very short supply so if you like designer everything (including ironing board covers) then you can get yourself one for free by purchasing a Rowenta iron from John Lewis before the 31st August 2008. Alternatively you can pick one up for £15 at www.rowenta.co.uk… But hurry!

Matthew Williamson is a name synonymous to the fashion industry. Adored by fashionistas all over the world, this award winning designer has recently celebrated his 10th year in business. Williamson’s Spring/Summer collection was awash with Native-American embroidery, African tribal prints, Indian Saris and Japanese kimono’s. Collectively known as ‘global fashion gypsy’. Williamson himself took inspiration from around the world and different cultures to create the key pieces for his Spring/Summer 08 collection. This look has since been filtering into the High St as a key trend for Summer, with a selection of global styles from around the world.

Bang on trend as usual, Momiji introduces its limited edition range designed by award winning graphic designer Nina Zimmermann ‘The Itchy Feet Collection’, which lead with this trend.

Last year they dipped into the incredibly cool, kawaii Japanese manga and harajuku market with the hugely successful Jo Zhou collection and this year, like so many designers showed us at the Spring/Summer shows it was global fashion trends that sparked inspiration.

The Nina Zimmermann range is available now from John Lewis priced £11.95 per doll.

If you’re looking for a tasteful canvas print or the opportunity to transfer a favourite photo onto a canvas then Arty Prints might be worth a look.

They offer a mix of contemporary and classic canvas pieces that would be suitable for just about any home.  With father’s day coming up they might even make a great gift.

Some of our favourites are from luminaries such as Andy Warhol, Frank Ritter and Salvador Dali or how about these subtle representations of Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn?

I’m a big fan of Jonathan Yeo the popular British portrait artist. His depictions of Tony Blair, Rupert Murdoch and others show real depth (something often lacking with other artists).

However, the headline catching Bush Porn Collage shown above appears to be a blatant play for publicity. The piece is made up entirely from torn up pieces of pornography and funnily enough it’s actually a very pleasing likeness. Leaving the politics aside I do think it’s a little bit crude.

I suppose the point is that it’s provoked reaction and discussion. But and it’s a big but, does a truly great artist like Mr Yeo really need to plumb the depths like this?
