Getting the consistency of your boiled egg spot on is always difficult - even with an egg timer. Just ask the servants of Prince Charles, who allegedly cook several boiled eggs in the hope that one maybe of the right consistency!

However, help is at hand with this little gizmo called the “Egg Perfect”.

Gizoo say:

“The Egg Perfect is a colour changing egg timer that sits in the pan with your eggs while they boil and tells you when they’re cooked to your taste. Graduated scales show when eggs are soft, medium or hard by sensing heat instead of time. This nifty egg timer has a sensor which accounts for the number of eggs, the amount of water and even the altitude at which your eggs are being cooked. Soft boiled eggs are exactly as you like them and hard boiled eggs are never left to boil too long.”

It includes the following features:

I love ice cream but the thought of trying to make the stuff doesn’t really appeal as usually I just like to sit down in front of a film and devour a tub with an immediacy that ice cream makers can never replicate.

However, I was genuinely quite impressed with the Play and Freeze ice cream maker which enables you to make some pretty tasty concoctions simply by kicking the football shaped device around your garden. It’s made of pretty stern stuff so don’t think it’s going to break.

Boiling an egg without water is a great idea in principle. Saves on washing up, saves on time and probably saves on your energy bills.

So that’s what UK inventor James Seddon has tried to create with his Eggxactly water free egg cooker. According to The Mail “Once placed in the device, the egg is cocooned in a flexible plastic element and heated to just over 100 degrees.”

The only problem is that Mr Seddon has failed to demonstrate his device successfully on two prominent TV programs. His calamities don’t seem to be dampening enthusiasm for the product and there seems little doubt that with investment/guidance from Peter Jones and Richard Farleigh (of Dragon’s Den TV Program) the problems will be ironed out in quick time.

Ultimately, you can guarantee Eggxactly being an iconic gift of the future.

The intended retail price is thought to be a very reasonable £20 ($37).

These golfing shoes are loud and in your face. That’s why I love them! Anybody who wants to stir up the often stuffy clothing requirements of many club courses, needs a pair of shoes like these.  Just wear them in front of the club chairman and watch the sparks fly.

Currently available through SubSeventy these golfing shoes retail for £89.99 ($135) and are available in a selection of colour combinations. If you’re looking for a unique gift this might be worth some consideration!

Q GrillI saw this portable barbeque and just thought it would make a wonderfully original present for the alpha male bbq enthusiast.

Miniaturised for easy transportation this barbeque measures an incredibly small 56 x 32cm (closed) 66 x 32cm (open) and weighs in at a puny 7.5kg. Perfect for lugging to an obscure location and grilling your favourite sausages.

The design just oozes gadget appeal which is obviously a real bonus for any dad trying to impress. Each grill flap opens out and is independently gas fed, so you can be cooking your streaks on one side and warming your pitta bread on the other.

The controls are very easy to comprehend and the real bonus for me was that the grills can be removed and put in the dishwasher. If you’re a lazy barbequer like me then that feature alone is worth it’s weight in gold!

A bit pricey and maybe not something you would use a great deal, but all in all an iconic gift for any dad.
