Selve based in London’s Jermyn Street have started offering a shoe customisation service for women. Men will be offered the same service later this summer.
I particularly like the “made to measure” knee high boots - as will my husband when I purchase a pair later this year!
The Selve web site offers an interesting interactive design screen - so you can have a play with different colours, textures etc.
Whilst Selve is based in London and they do require an initial consultation - repeat orders can be made over the phone or by email.
Gone Digging is a new web site that was launched earlier this week. The concept offers a wide range of personalised gift ideas that are novel and fun.
Gone Digging personalised gifts include:
Personalised Newspaper
This one is our favourite. Gone Digging has exclusive agreement with Mirror newspapers, to personalise spoof Mirror newspapers with a front page splash about your nearest and dearest - be it Britain’s top model, receiving a Knighthood from the Queen, England’s new football manager or a sports headline they’ve always dreamed of. My god, there is scope to go to town with this!!!!

Probably one of the nicest gifts someone has given me is a personalised photobook. To my mind, it shows real thought and effort has gone into the gift.
There are a few operators out there who offer this service, but it was Cewe Photobook who recently came to my attention.
With free Cewe Photo World software a photobook can be ready in just 3 minutes. The software guides you through each step of the design process, after which the finished photobook will be delivered direct to your door. The photobooks come in 6 different cover types including faux leather; premium linen; hardback; and soft cover and 4 different sizes.
Prices range from £5.99 for a photo booklet up to £34.95 for a hard back XL photo book. You can also add comments in text and many different background styles and colours.
If you’re stuck for gift inspiration, a photobook could be the perfect answer. Check out Cewe Photobook for further information.
One of my aspirations for the future is to complete my very own book. I can’t say that I have focused too much on the topic or much else in fact - but it is a dream I have.
However, and to my great surprise, I hadn’t quite appreciated how easy it is to get a book off the press these days. A rather clever service called Blurb does all the hardwork for you.
They provide Blurb Booksmart software that enables you to professionally format your content. This includes:
• Easy to make — Drag and drop images and text into hundreds of professionally designed layouts to create a book that reflects your style.
• Creative control — Design and edit your book’s text and photos with intuitive layout tools.
• Font support — Use all your own fonts in a variety of sizes and text styles.
• Easy image management — Keep track of the images in your book with the “My Imported Photos” library.
