There are some board games that really shouldn’t see the light of day. When you look at the competition like Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, I wonder if new board games can really cut it with the big boys.
5 Second Rule is a new board game release that I welcome. As for the big boys, this game cuts it. In fact, 5 Second Rule sits very nicely in the same bracket as one of the World’s best board games.
Seriously.

Essentially, all you need to do is name 3 things in under 5 seconds. Easy right?
Wrong! If you get all competitive over a board game, this will get you going.
For instance, name 3 famous Michaels? 5,4,3,2,1….
There’s loads of famous Michaels…Caine, Jackson, Winner for instance, but did you do it in under 5 seconds?
The game is simplicity in itself. You get quiz cards, a board, some counters and a really cool timer. It makes a wacky quiz show type noise every time you flip it. You start pretending you are a quiz master…well, I did!
There is a chance for players to either ‘duck’ their question or try to ‘out-play’ their opponents by using the Switch and Pass On cards, which simply adds an even more frenzied pace of play.
Under pressure, you can expect some silly answers to come out as well. This board game encourages laughter.
It is also a different test for those know it alls that succeed on the likes of Trivial Pursuit. I am normally very good at such games, but to the delight of my Fiancee I was pretty poor at 5 Second Rule!
Not that I cared, we were all having a great night.
University Games 5 Second Rule was rightfully awarded Best New Toy in the games category at the London Toy Fair 2011. Some of the company’s most successful games include Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Mr & Mrs, Smart Ass, Five Little Monkeys and The Gruffalo.
You can get 5 Second Rule from all good retailers including Argos, Tesco, Toys R Us, Smyths and WH Smiths for £19.99 (Ages 8+).
Want another question? Time it this time….
Name 3 excuses to give for calling in sick? 5,4,3,2,1….
Drambuie is a honey and herb flavoured golden liqueur made from aged malt whisky, heather honey and a secret blend of herbs and spices.
The name “Drambuie” comes from the Scottish Gaelic phrase an dram buidheach, meaning “the drink that satisfies”….Fair comment, this is a sweet yet robust spirit for which I have an affection for.
For me, Drambuie works best as a ‘rusty nail’ made from whisky and Drambuie. The sweetness is offset by the whisky to create a perfect (strong) cocktail.

Drambuie have got creative though and have released variants of the rusty nail that are perfect for the summer.
Starting with the Golden Nail - a simple elegant cocktail from Drambuie which is a modern twist on a Kir Royale. This is the perfect picnic cocktail as all you need is one part Drambuie topped with 3 parts champagne in a champagne flute.
The Silver Nail contains Drambuie mixed long with soda – a truly refreshing drink utilising the classic whisky mixer.
The Ginger Nail is Drambuie mixed long with Ginger Beer – a refreshingly complex drink where the complex flavours of Drambuie are complemented by the refreshment of the ginger beer; a great G&T alternative.
And the Ruby Nail is this summer’s thirst quencher. Drambuie mixed long with Cranberry – for those with more of a savoury palate that prefer a drier drink; a more interesting Vodka & Cranberry.
Drambuie was good before. Drambuie is now a great choice with these new recipes. It would make the perfect gift for a summer BBQ party. Drambuie comes highly recommended!

With Father’s Day coming in quick, maybe you are panicking about the best Father’s day gift you can get on a limited budget.
Fret no more.
Now, you can’t rock up to your old man’s with a couple of cans of Lager, that would be a bit too disrespectful, but for a mere £2.50, you can give your Dad a Limited Edition Triple Matured Oak Aged Beer, in a smart presentation box.

A big difference!
Innis & Gunn have released the Limited Edition brew in time for Father’s day. I am a Real Ale buff / expert / fan / fiend, and can happily report that this beer delivers on all levels.
It has a rich depth of flavour, but also manages to retain oak and malt with fruity characters, without compromising on smoothness.
And at 7.2%, it will knock his socks off! (enjoy responsibly please)
Here’s Innis & Gunn Managing Director Dougal Sharp - : “Having recently become a father for the second time I am well aware that being a dad is a lifetime job requiring time and patience – like this beer. I think dads will appreciate the maturity of this Limited Edition. We’ve made a seriously smooth beer with enormous depth of flavour - a brew dedicated to dads everywhere.”
Father’s day gift on a budget…sorted. Get yours at Tesco’s today.
At Iconic Gifts, we try our best to find the very best gift solutions. So, What if there is one website that offers such a comprehensive list of gift options?...Should we give up looking for more ideas?!!
That website is Photobox. The range seems to grow daily whilst the prices seem to shrink! I haven’t used any other photo site that is this simple to navigate.
I ordered a few bits to see how easy it was to upload, crop and create….If I can do it, anyone can.
I also wanted to check on transit times. I am happy to report that I received a poster print the very next day. With these prints starting at £5.49 for 12” x 12”, it’s awesome value.

A couple of days later, I received a box framed print. This is a relatively new product and is a good alternative to photos on canvas. The chunky frame naturally draws your eyes to the image, with prices starting at £29.99 (25.4 x 20.3 cm), Everyone will be delighted.
Some of these products can still be ordered in time for Valentine’s Day. One such product is the Walbum. I love the simplicity behind this.
The Walbum is made from sturdy plastic and can hold 20 photos on each side. Fill it with loads of romantic photos for the most perfect Valentine’s gift. With this not being a permanent display, you can chop and change as you like.

Guys….It’s £5.49!!! (You need to add the photo’s in, but guess what? Photobox can certainly help with that, prints from 5p!)
But Photobox does so much more. I tried out their business cards design templates. So easy to use, and when my cards turned up, I was impressed with a real professional finish.
Photobox doesn’t stop there either.
Personalised T shirts / jigsaws / canvas prints / cushions / photobooks / mugs / coasters / teddies / diaries and on and on and ON!!!
Great service, great prices, great products and a great product range.
Go and have a look at their website, but Peeps, don’t forget us….Please come back and see us soon!
Bring your Christmas party alive this year with Camitz Sparkling Vodka. Camitz brings a whole new meaning to the world of Vodka, and the experience of drinking it is something that you are sure to remember – however, as it is 40%, then don’t drink too much, as the memories might just not be there!

This extraordinary Vodka is 100% natural and has been distilled five times before its carbonation. This is what gives to you, an exceptionally superior Vodka. And mighty it is! Camitz say: -
“Camitz Sparkling Vodka elegantly balances a natural acidity with a light sweet finish, which is then amplified by delicate sparkling bubbles that underline the outstanding character of this super premium Vodka.”
It is recommended that Camitz be chilled before drinking. Once opened, the vodka can stay sparkling for up to 8 hours. If the bottle has not been finished after the cork has been popped, it can be saved by using a Champagne Stopper, which will keep the Vodka sparkling for up to 3 days (or even longer depending on how much is left and if stored in a properly chilled environment). However, from experience, I would say, wait until you have a few friends around and pop the cork then. It’s sparkly and fine tasting, and something in which your mates can enjoy too!
The Camitz Sparkling Vodka Gift Bag would make a great gift for those vodka-loving friends.

Camitz has created this gift pack, comprising a 200ml bottle of Camitz Sparkling Vodka, two shot glasses and a Camitz branded Champagne-type stopper. This really would make a fab gift! The pack is presented in a striking designer carrier bag. The gift set, with an RRP of £19.95, is now at Selfridges’ London, Manchester and Birmingham stores, The Vintage House and online through http://www.firebox.com and http://www.drinkshop.com.
