My other half is dreading the start of the School Holidays! It’s alright for me, I can escape the madhouse and come to work…which sometimes is little different.
Anyway, Would you like a secret weapon to combat summer boredom? It’s going to happen, you might even hear these words on day one; “Mummy, I’m bored!”

THQ have released Big Beach Sports 2 on Wii. This is as good as the first Big Beach Sports, with enough variation to keep it fresh. Choose from Rugby Fives, Disc Golf, Cricket, Dune Buggy Racing, Surfing, Jet Ski Racing, Canoe Races and Football. The surfing is ace!
All games can be single or multi player. As a group game, this has so much going for it. It’s fun, entertaining and will keep them absorbed for ages. When the sun starts shining again, kick them out to have a real game of football.
Now the real plus with this, apart from the fun your little ones will get, is the price. Released as a budget title for £14.99, you can now get this at Amazon for only £12.92!

I have always been closely linked with the gaming industry and THQ’s reputation 15 years ago was very poor. They have worked hard to remove the stigma that went before them and BBS2 is another example of how to do things correctly. Well done THQ!

This years summer blockbuster is surely going to be part 1 of The last Airbender by revered director M Night Shyamalan. Naturally, there has to be a video game release to co-incide.
The Last Airbender Video Game from THQ follows the intertwined destinies of Aang and Zuko as you step into their world and battle through the immersive environments of the movie. As Zuko, you use destructive Firebending powers and as Aang you use amazing Airbending powers. This could be what the Nintendo Wii has been crying out for.
You can view the clip here, and below are the key features….
· Zuko’s Perspective - play out the climax of the movie from the perspective of Zuko.
· Become Aang , Zuko & The Blue Spirit – the three playable characters whose destinies are intertwined and complex.
· Use Powerful Bending Powers – unlock amazing Airbending and Firebending abilities to manipulate the environment and combat enemies.
· Melee Combat - use weapons unique to the specific character for hand to hand combat.
· Insight & Enrage Modes – Slow down time using Insight Mode helping Aang react & bend during combat. Zuko has Enrage Mode which doubles the amount of damage he inflicts on enemies during combat
· Ultimate Boss Battle – the ending battle between Zuko & Zhao.
· The Avatar World – visit locations from the movie as you experience incredible, ground breaking and realistic in-game graphics.
· Challenge Yourself – unlock challenges throughout the game, revisiting previous levels with new abilities.
· Dynamic System – interactive, dynamic and immersive system where objects, cloth, particles, lighting, water and weather effects react to movement.
Enjoy the clip, look forward to the game! Released August, also available on Nintendo DS
It doesn’t seem too long ago that it was Christmas, and now all of a sudden, we are rolling out the BBQs and looking skywards….Summer is nearly with us!
I have the perfect idea for every parent out there who may be worrying about keeping their little ones occupied during the long school holiday. The Nintendo Wii All Star Karate has it all - it’s fun, educational (I’m stretching the term educational) and energetic.
I know a lot of kids that will do nothing but sit in front of the TV, seem completely unmotivated and bored. Does that sound like anyone you know?!! Do you want to know how to stop this?!
Inject some fun into their summer holidays. All Star Karate is a great one player journey, where you will be guided by your own Karate Sensei. You get to learn all the Karate moves, history and terminology (the “educational” bit). The wise old Sensei is a little Yoda-like, factually to the point and very funny.

Unlock As You Train: Develop your skills in Career Mode to unlock new challenges and awards. Work your way through the 7 different colored belts until you achieve black!
The object of all your training is to defeat a villainous ninja. As a one player game, it has a lot going for it.
However, All Star Karate really comes into it’s own as a two player contest. My son - The Karate Kid - can really pull some moves that leaves my character KO’d. After a bout, we are both on the floor, panting, knackered and giggling away. After an initial training period, my son is moving about like I have never seen before.
If you do not want to hear “Mum, I’m bored!” (pronounced really slowly, of course) then this latest release is a great option. Now to crown this Wii game as a true champ - the price; £17.99!! (available at all good game retailers including Amazon, Play and Game) Released 28th May.
There’s a new toy on the market that acts as a ‘buddy’ for kids when they are surfing the web. The Chatman is a USB toy that plugs into your PC that you can talk to… and he’ll talk back. However bizarre that sounds, it’s a cracking little gizmo that will brighten up your child’s day for sure. You can chat to the ‘Chatman’, he’ll pick up on your tone of voice and conversation and mirror back… it’s quite surreal I can assure you.
BUT, the best thing about the Chatman is that he can keep an eye on what your kids are up to on the internet without them even knowing. He works with all of your usual messenger programs like Yahoo, Facebook, Myspace and a few others. He also keeps an eye on the websites that are visited. He won’t prevent anyone from visiting them, he’ll just frown upon them.
He has moving eyes, arms, ears and an LED emoticon mouth. He also has over 500 different actions and a total of 25 moods. Available everywhere this summer for around £40.
