Being an Irish lass myself, I just love my potatoes (or as we call them, spuds!).  I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love a good old helping of mashed potatoes with dinner, apart from my 5 year old son of course!  The problem with mashed potato though, one that really puts me off, is when you get lumpy mash – yuck.  Nothing better for ruining your Sunday lunch.

So for the best quality mash you could make in the comfort of your own kitchen, why not try out OXO’s stylish stainless steel Potato Ricer.  This is my new best friend in the kitchen!  I love it, and can’t actually believe I have lasted so long without one.  It literally transforms lumpy potatoes into creamy, delicious mash with one simple little press.

This Kitchen Potato Utensil is so easy to use.  Simply hold over a bowl, fill with cooked potatoes and squeeze through.  The non-slip handles helps absorb the pressure as you squeeze, which in turn will save you time and the strain of mashing (not to mention the dead arm syndrome after).

Don’t think that you can use this just for potatoes; why not mash your turnips or carrots this way.  Or better still, purée your little ones food with it.  You really will find a lot of uses for it.

OXO state:-
“If the thought of all that mashing deters you, try a ricer instead to save you time and energy in the kitchen. There’s no doubt that some mashers could do the job admirably, but for a professional result that makes you look more like Heston than Delia, the ricer wins hands down.  Just one quick squeeze and you have a bowl of steaming, delicious mash for everyone to enjoy.”

The OXO Ricer costs a well spent £24, and the whole range is widely available through a selection of national retailers, or visit http://www.oxo.com.

Cornishwear has launched their latest range of Vintage-Chic Kitchenware which will guarantee to brighten up your home.  This range of decorative kitchen accessories from Cornishware hosts the very familiar and much loved blue and white stripes.  They have said:-

“T.G.Green & Co. first produced Cornishware in the 1920s. The distinctive blue and white banded pottery owes its name to an employee who said it reminded them of the blue sky and white-crested waves of Cornwall.”

I am sure you are well aware of the striped china that is available, and am convinced many homes own a piece of this Cornish pottery in their kitchens.  Well, now the new ‘Cornishware’ Collection is in no doubt going to be the next most important fixture in your well dressed kitchen!  (It really is very smart looking).

The new collection is made from 100% cotton drill and consists of aprons (starting at £10), a double oven glove (£15), tea cosy (£14) and tea towels (£13 for a pack of 2).  All of course hosting the very distinctive trademark blue and white banded colours.

We have reviewed a few Salter products before and have always been impressed with them.  As well as being both functional and stylish, I highly recommend these fantastic products.  Salter Scales is something that everybody should possess in their home, be it in the kitchen or the bathroom.

As this year marks the celebration of Salter’s 250th anniversary, they have come up with a spectacular set of kitchen weighing scales that anyone would be proud to show off.  They call it the Anniversary Scale!

image

This Anniversary Scale has a mechanical dial face, but also has the choice of measuring digitally.  As far as a digital kitchen scale goes, I feel that this is the perfect set which will look sleek and stylish in any kitchen.  As an extra bonus, the Salter Special Edition Anniversary Scale includes the Add & Weigh ‘zero’ function.  This will allow you to measure several ingredients within the same bowl!  (How’s that for time-saving?)

Other specifications of the Anniversary scale are as follows:-
• Supersize, clear LCD display
• Clock function
• Stainless steel weighing bowl
• Ability to switch between metric and imperial

The Salter Special Edition Anniversary Scale is available at Lakeland Stores, Independent Retailers and online at http://www.salterhousewares.com, and is priced at £45.

Now, this is a gift that my Nan will love!  Personalised Tea - Special Blend

image

My Nan loves nothing better than relaxing with a nice cup of tea.  As she says, tea is the cure to most things, guaranteed to warm us up on a cold day.  So when I seen this gift, I just had to check it out.  This Personalised Tea Tin is just the very thing to buy tea lovers.  You can personalise the tin with the name of your choice on the front, and on the back you can add 3 lines of personal messages.  Also, you get to choose from either 125g of English Blend tea leaves or tea bags.

I love the idea of this, simple but very effective.  The tin is good quality and will last a long time on display in your kitchen (it does look good!), just simply refill when it is empty.

The Personalised Tea Boxes are priced at £9.95, and are available from http://www.gettingpersonal.co.uk.  You can also have the option of including a tea infuser with your gift for £5.  What a bargain.
