We’re loving this brand new product that was only launched in the UK last week. It’s called the BON-FIRE and it is in fact a very funky & easy transportable bonfire kitchen on which all dishes can be made. The perfect gift for the outdoor chef!

You’d be forgiven for thinking it looks like something out or the days of the old Wild West with its three-leg system which is easy to set up over the fire. It’s been developed by Danish chef René Stage and consists of an enamelled fire place, a large grill grid, an enamelled barbecue pan, enamelled pan cake pan with a long handle and finally – but not least – the practical enamelled pot with hanging hooks.
It’s completely wind and weather proof and apparently very easy to transport – perfect for those camping weekends this summer.
RRP:
Stew pot – from £50.00
BBQ Pan – from £56
3 Leg Stand (140 cm): £71 (please note, this item is available in different sizes)
Shaped just like a real baseball bat, but in miniature size, this is a rather unique novelty pepper mill that is THE ‘must-have’ item at any BBQ this summer and is guaranteed to be a big hit with any man who is into his ‘boys’ toys’.
I need say no more… just pop it on the table and watch the men become obsessed with it!
It’s designed and manufactured in England and made from beech wood sourced from sustainable forests. It has a stainless steel grinding mechanism that’s built to last and retails for £20 from cookshops nationwide.
If you’ve ever ventured to Northern Africa there’s every chance you would have experienced a traditional Tagine. A Tagine in its traditional sense is basically a clay oven that cooks a stew like meal that is mouth-wateringly good
Le Creuset have recently launched their own cast iron version (the base), with a “coolie” style lid made from earthenware and having given it a whirl we think it’s pretty special… in fact it’s taken pride of place in the kitchen!
“So how does a Tagine work” I hear you say… well, steam is re-condensed into water droplets on it’s cool walls and falls back into the ingredients keeping it moist. When you cook up a stew in a traditional casserole dish there’s every chance you’ll burn something (well, I would anyway), but a Tagine basically reduces the risk of this – Oh… and it looks pretty spectacular too, a great conversation piece when popped on the table.
You can cook pretty much anything in it including meat and vegetables with small amounts of liquid. Le Creuset’s Tagine is also oven, grill, freezer and dishwasher safe and suitable for all hobs. If that isn’t enough to tempt you then there’s a lifetime guarantee on base!
Here’s a great gift idea for any occasion – a little box of fresh spices complete with recipe cards for a main course and dessert. Season and Spice is an online company that allows you to choose to send three, six or 12 deliveries, then every month they post out a little box of the freshest spices, all measured out to make simple seasonal recipes. All the recipient has to do is buy the other ingredients and enjoy cooking up a treat for up to four people.
There is a vegetarian and non-vegetarian option, the boxes are small enough that they will fit through the letter box and boxes can be mailed across the UK and internationally as they are light enough for air mail. The spring season contains dishes such as Spice Crusted New Potato Salad and Tahitian Vanilla & Lavender Pannacotta. The spices are sourced direct from their country of origin or from ethnic wholesalers in this country with their own suppliers. They grind and blend all the spices just before postage so they’re fresh.
We absolutely adore this rather stylish Geisha Tea Set from LaCafetière.com, which we think makes for a great mother’s day pressie if you’re still stuck for ideas.
It’s only £30 so won’t break the bank, and it’s also timeless so won’t date.
