For many women, what we wear – and how we wear it – reflects how we feel. We tend to be at our most confident when we know our clothes are cared for and look pristine. And the figures prove it: on average, we spend an astounding 162 minutes ironing each week. Surely, the pressure on us to be modern day superwomen means we have better things to do than slave over a hot ironing board? Now you can halve the time you spend ironing and still look great thanks to the new Philips GC9040 Pressurised Steam Generator.

Allowing you to steam through the weekly laundry load in half the time, the new Pressurised Steam Generator is every superwoman’s secret weapon in the fight against creased clothes.  Five bars of steam pressure make for a powerful ironing experience, enhanced by a unique SteamGlide soleplate for a smooth, effortless motion. The iron dispenses continuous steam at up to 120 g/min for fast crease removal, while a steam boost function lets you blast more stubborn creases with ease.

If you appreciate quality candles you’ll know about funky little brand called English Eccentrics who every now and then release a new candle that has a little eccentricity…

The latest in the range is no exception, it’s called Tea with the Queen and when burns, offers a fragrance that combines the regal aroma of Devon violets mingled with fresh Darjeeling tea. The candle sits in a tasteful glass container and is printed with a silhouette of a Her Majesty the Queen and an intricately designed traditional teapot.

It is priced at £24 from stevalcandlecompany.co.uk. The Tea with the Queen candle has been made following a partnership between fashion-favourite English Eccentrics and the renowned St Eval Candle Company, based on a traditional working farm in Cornwall.

It is contained within a gift presentation box, making it an ideal Christmas gift this year.

Further designs are already in the pipeline…

Selve based in London’s Jermyn Street have started offering a shoe customisation service for women. Men will be offered the same service later this summer.

I particularly like the “made to measure” knee high boots - as will my husband when I purchase a pair later this year!

The Selve web site offers an interesting interactive design screen - so you can have a play with different colours, textures etc.

Whilst Selve is based in London and they do require an initial consultation - repeat orders can be made over the phone or by email.
