Now, this is the kind of thing that I just love!  Anything that is handmade gift really does it for me.  You just know that a lot of care and attention has been put into your chosen gift.  So, if you want to look for a special personalised gift guaranteed to make a wonderful keepsake, Samigail’s Gifts is the one to look at!

The difference with these is that the gifts, keepsakes and plaques are personalised using the unusual art of pyrography – wood burning.  And what’s more is that the business owner Fiona Morris does it all herself.

Gifts for many occasions are available, from the ever popular 1st day of school plaque, to fairy wands and weddings.  Fiona prides herself in the fact that her gifts have been chosen for particular important occasions, and feels honoured that this is the case.

I luckily got to check out two products she has available.  The first is the wooden rectangular Fathers Plaque.  This can be for father’s day, a birthday or just for the simple fact of being a special Daddy!  This really is a sweet idea.  You can choose what you want to write on the plaque itself, with whatever personal message you want.  It is priced at an amazing £5.00, bargain!

Another that I got to check out was the Rag Doll ‘Sunny’.  She stands at a perfect 35cm tall, looks adorable and makes a great soft toy for your child.  She is colourful and bright, truly living up to her name.  Around her neck is a wooden tag onto which you can have your personal message written, also by pyrography.  Either have just the name of the child on it, or have a special message written.  It is your choice entirely.  Sunny will make a fantasic handmade gift.  She is priced at a small £12.50, and trust me, for what you get that is an amazing price!

If you are looking for a bespoke item to provide as a gift, then I urge you to take a glance at the Temple Island Collection’s.  The Temple Island Collection is one of the principal names in visitor and heritage retail, for both skilfully designed products and successful gift ranges.  These offer a considerable amount of appeal to both home buyers and overseas visitors.  Temple Island adds new products to their collection each year, which give clients a continuation of fresh inspiration.

I have listed some of my favourites below:-

Within the ‘Stripy Range’ you will find coasters (£4.99), placemats (£11.99), a tea-towel (£4.99) and mug & tin set (£7.99), all hosting the colourful and fantastic London in Stripes.  This will look fantastic in the kitchen, and will brighten up any household.

The Red Bus Collection really is a fantastic gift for any visitor to London.  With the city in black and white colouring and a bright red double-decker bus, you won’t be disappointed with your purchase.  Not only will any of this collection make a great gift for somebody, but, it will also look great in your own home.  You can choose from an apron (£9.99), a fantastic art print (£19.99), floaty pens (£2.99) and much more.

The Cheeky Collection really is a fun and mischievous looking gift.  Its focuses on the Union Jack, and of course a London scene in the background.  Also in black and white, the union jack is emphasised by a couple standing with their backs to you, wearing nothing but a bikini and trunks which bear our country’s colours.  You can choose from a Cheeky picture Mug (£5.99), a Box Canvas (£8.99), a cheeky Tea-towel (£4.99), plus other items.

The Money Collection is another fun gift range which shows £20 and £50 pound notes.  I would say this one would suit many people, but ideally would make a great gift for ‘him’.  Get your man into the kitchen, and use the tea-towel (£4.99) to encourage him to do the washing-up.  Or maybe give him his morning cup of coffee in a £50 Mug (£6.99).  Other gifts are available.

Other collections within Temple Island include Landmark gifts, Heritage gifts and Hero Mugs.  You really must take a look at http://www.templeisland.com to check out their spectacular collections.

Maybe, Perhaps, The process of giving has become too commercial. I know this is an arguement that comes around once a year with Christmas. It is very refreshing, then, to showcase these wonderful books, full of sentiment and love. If you want to give to someone special in your life, give a Blessing Book.

The Author, Lizzi Vandorpe, has created something which will be appreciated and treasured forever. The Blessing’s book features beautiful images and blank pages to allow you to Preserve the moments, the people, the occasions which bring joy to your life. When you reflect, you will revisit those moments immediately.

I am using my copy of the Blessings book to record special moments with my two sons. I just wish that I had this from birth! With this book, You will get out what you put in (much like Life). In years to come, revisit and relive moments that would have been lost in the fog of distant memories.

Fresh of the Press is the Blessings book of Marriage. A simply perfect wedding gift, anniversary gift or if you are getting married yourself a unique journal of your special day.

Created for anyone experiencing the joys of being in love, the pages within The Blessings Book of Marriage contain beautiful photography by Celia Mannings, Jason Harris and Martin Wilson, and quotations giving voice to the excitement of romance.

Priced at £8.99, The Blessings Book of Marriage, along with Lizzi’s other publications, is available direct from http://www.theblessingsbook.com.

Lizzi’s latest innovation is The Blessings Card iPhone / iPod app. This contains 26 beautiful images that, with just a shake of the device, appear in random sequence, along with a heartwarming message. Users can also manually select a card, add a message and share it with friends via email or their Twitter followers. Available at the App Store, The Blessings Cards is currently free.

The importance of these books as a gift as opposed to some of the mass produced, High profit / low sentiment gifts available is possibly unparalleled.

Just a few years ago digital photo frames would have cost into the hundreds of pounds, but with the pace of technology, these are now more affordable than you think.

You’re looking at what we consider to be the best value 7” digital photo frame on the market at £39.99 from Robert Dyas. It comes with its remote control, has slide show or manual picture scroll, date/time and alarm function, supports JPEG, MPEG, AVI and MP3 files (can play images, movie clips and music) and boasts an impressive 480 x 234 resolution colour display.
