Chocolate and Red Wine in the one glass!  Might sound strange, but trust me, it is truly delicious.  Chocolate lovers across the country can now indulge in the ultimate taste experience this Christmas following the launch of Chocolate Shop, a delicious chocolate infused wine.

There is nothing more I enjoy than a glass of red wine.  It is my preferred choice, as is chocolate – every night!  When I first heard of this Chocolate shop wine, I had my doubts!  It sounded a bit weird for me, and I was very unsure of it.  That is, until I tried it!  Yes, I am a complete convert now!  It tastes strangely very nice and I know that I will have my stock of it bought in for Christmas time.

A lot of people find it difficult to purchase a good champagne, simply because most of the time it’s just too darn expensive!  Finding a sparkling wine that is truly bubbly and joyful is always great.  It offers us a great alternative to traditional French Champagne.  It tastes totally delicious!  The Cono Sparkling Brut is juicy, crisp and refreshing, making it the perfect complement to canapés at a festive drinks reception.  Or, if you’re like me, it makes for a wonderful tipple at home after a hectic week at work!  Well, at a price of £9.99, why not!

Cono Sur says:-

“It combines the classic and traditional variety Chardonnay with Riesling and Pinot Noir, which not only contribute in acidity and structure, but also reflect Cono Sur’s fresh and modern approach to winemaking.  It’s a lively and radiant sparkling wine, whose aromas reveal great expression of fresh fruit, mingled in with the complexity and elegance of honey, white flowers, and notes of yeast. A fresh palate, with good acidity, balance and complexity, displays an extremely elegant and delicate brut.”

So, if you’re on a budget or just appreciate a good sparkling wine, then the Cono Sur Sparkling is perfect.  Check out wwww.conosurgreencooks.com for more information.

Summertime is here and its time to let the entertaining begin!  When the sun is out (occasionally!), it’s great to invite the mates around for a nice little drink or two in the garden.  Spark up the barbeque and let the fun and games begin!  Now the question is, what delcious summertime drink shall we indulge in?  Well, let me introduce you to Petticoat White Zinfandel 2010 – a truly wonderful rose, ripe and fruity wine.

image

Brought to us by Laithwaites, this wine is sure to be a crowd pleaser.  Hugely popular in California, White Zinfandel is America’s sunshine state’s prized red grape - affectionately known as White Zin in its delicious pink guise.  The bottle itself is something that any lady would pride herself in drinking – it looks stunning and totally gorgeous.  It is a very sweet wine which some individuals may not like, but, as I love a sweet wine, this one is just perfect!

Laithwaites say:-

“It is hugely popular for it’s gorgeous, easy to drink style that’s just packed with fruit. Think fresh-cut watermelon stuffed with strawberries. And The Petticoat stands out because the grapes have been left on the vine for as long as possible - hence that wonderful sweet ripeness.”

Petticoat White Zinfandel 2010 is available at http://www.laithwaites.co.uk for £5.99.

Sherry? Summer drink?

OK, maybe nothing beats an ice cold lager to help cool you down during our long hot summers. I’m not sure where this years long hot summer has gone, oh well!

But Tio Pepe should be a candidate for best summer drink.

image

Chilled, you should treat Tio Pepe as a dry white wine. At 15 percent alcohol it’s strong enough and is complimented by the nutty and yeasty aromas and flavors that derive from the aging of the wine rather than from any primary fruit character.

It has a distinctive, clean aroma and is bone dry with a savoury character. It is this that makes it a perfect accompaniment to summer barbeques.

It also matches well with spicy food, anything with strong flavours, such as steak, fish and seafood and snacky-foods like nuts and crisps. Tapas and Tio Pepe is a match made in heaven.

If you are looking for something a little bit different, Tio Pepe ticks that box too. Imagine turning up to your mates bbq with a bottle of sherry! It will not be long before this becomes the drink of choice within your social circle.

Tio Pepe is widely available from £8.99 from all major retailers and most independent wine merchants.
