Quite simply, to buy a Wii Fit Board is to enter into a new age of gaming. This thing is genius.

Not only does it get you out of your chair and playing, but it’s fun too.

The key to Wii Fit is the platform or balance board that is sensitive to weight and centre of gravity. From this and your height, the clever micro computer calculates your body mass index (BMI). There is a margin of error in this because muscle weighs more than fat - but it gives you an idea.

From here the Wii Fit Board offers 40 different activities to get you sweating and fat burning.

These include:

• A ball rolling mini game, where the player uses the Wii Balance Board to roll a ball on a platform into a certain hole

• Boxing

• Jogging

• Hula hooping

• Jogging

• Sit ups

• Push ups

• Ski jumping, i.e the player squats while maintaining their balance, then stands as fast as possible in order to gain a good jump

• Snowboarding

• Heading soccer balls and avoiding other objects by leaning forward and back

• Step aerobics

• Tightrope walking

• Yoga exercises

All in all the Wii Fit Board does just about everything, bar make you dinner! Retail price is £70 ($140).
