If you really fancy sending a gift that’s really different, this idea could be the one. Lastminute.com sell it as follows:

Your star name will be recorded within the Intergalactic Star database and allocated with a unique star number from this database. Please note that this is a fun, inspirational gift and scientific institutions will continue to refer to stars by their catalogue number or coordinates only.”

Might be a tad cheesey but definitely an orginal gift idea!
