Delicously Diverse Drambuie

Drambuie is a honey and herb flavoured golden liqueur made from aged malt whisky, heather honey and a secret blend of herbs and spices.

The name “Drambuie” comes from the Scottish Gaelic phrase an dram buidheach, meaning “the drink that satisfies”….Fair comment, this is a sweet yet robust spirit for which I have an affection for.

For me, Drambuie works best as a ‘rusty nail’ made from whisky and Drambuie. The sweetness is offset by the whisky to create a perfect (strong) cocktail.

Drambuie have got creative though and have released variants of the rusty nail that are perfect for the summer.

Starting with the Golden Nail - a simple elegant cocktail from Drambuie which is a modern twist on a Kir Royale. This is the perfect picnic cocktail as all you need is one part Drambuie topped with 3 parts champagne in a champagne flute.
The Silver Nail contains Drambuie mixed long with soda – a truly refreshing drink utilising the classic whisky mixer.

The Ginger Nail is Drambuie mixed long with Ginger Beer – a refreshingly complex drink where the complex flavours of Drambuie are complemented by the refreshment of the ginger beer; a great G&T alternative.
And the Ruby Nail is this summer’s thirst quencher. Drambuie mixed long with Cranberry – for those with more of a savoury palate that prefer a drier drink; a more interesting Vodka & Cranberry.

Drambuie was good before. Drambuie is now a great choice with these new recipes. It would make the perfect gift for a summer BBQ party. Drambuie comes highly recommended!
