EducationCity Review
EducationCity is a new and colourful web site that gives friends and family the opportunity to gift the little ones something fun and illuminating.
The £29.95 subscription per child, per year provides access to a variety of online educational resources which include interactive activities, tests and revision material. I particularly liked a question game relating to the life cycle of a frog. Easy to use, interesting and educational to boot - even my 2 year old daughter enjoyed it. There is also a nursery section on the site for younger children. Earlier this year EducationCity.com was voted winner of the Best Early Years Resource or Equipment category at the prestigious 2008 Education Resources Awards.
The site offers elements that reinforce school work in a fun way, whilst activity sheets can be printed off that give guidance offline. EducationCity operates in deference to national educational standards with 7,000 UK schools currently subscribing as an educational resource in classrooms, which assists with Key Stages of the National Curriculum.
A particularly helpful aspect is that the site permits parents to print off certificates for their children and also lets them (if the school subscribes) log their child’s homework online, so it can be tracked at school.
Everyone can sign up for a FREE trial lasting 10 days for home users and 21 days for school subscribers. For a fee of £29.95 per child for the year, children can move through the Key Stages of the home site up to three times, without any further charge. Gift subscriptions are also available, making this the perfect gift for godparents, grandparents, aunts and uncles.
