Leap Frog Tag Reader - Review
When I received a Leap Frog Tag Reader in the post, I must admit to being a little skeptical. Surely my kids would not be able to work it out? Surely they would get bored of it quickly? Surely it would have negligible educational value?

Well, I was pleasantly surprised on all these points. In fact I can’t speak highly enough of it.
For those who haven’t heard about the Leap Frog Tag Reader, it’s essentially a clever little optical pen that can detect information contained within specially printed books. The books contain stories and lots of educational word games.
My three year old daughter (the tag reader is aimed at 4 - 8 year olds) very quickly got to grips with it and actually began to pick up some simple words from the games contained within the Ozzie and Mack book provided. She loved the stories and is already bugging us to buy another book. You can’t really get a more positive review than that.
My wife who is a teacher had a small issue with the letter sounding games, as these were not done in the widely adopted phonics technique (phonics uses letter sounds rather than actual letter names). Nonetheless, she was quietly impressed with how our daughter had taken to it and will be buying more books in the future.
Priced at a very reasonable £39.99, this would be an excellent educational toy for the kids. Unlike most educational toys - the kids will actually enjoy this one…..
