I do not know what it is, but there is a certain magic in Cornwall. Call me mad – you wouldn’t be the first – but you can almost feel it.

It is very fitting that such a magical place produces such magical beer. Sharp’s brewery in Rock, Cornwall now have a very impressive product portfolio….The ultimate gift for him!

Sharp’s “Doom bar” is an ale that is growing a huge following. It’s distinctive aroma and balanced flavour sets it apart from other beers taking unsuspecting first time drinkers by surprise with its moreish appeal.

Doom Bar has achieved international cult status, is one of the fastest growing beer brands in the UK and the best selling cask beer in the South West of England.

Doom bar can now be ordered online by the bottle or the Keg (5 litre keg for £24) at Sharp Breweries website. There are not too many online ordering facilities for Real Ale, Sharp’s Brewery is a very welcome addition. I’m ordering a keg, just for myself!

The great thing about Sharp’s website is the choice. Apart from the excellent Doom bar, you can enjoy “Chalky’s Bite” and “Chalky’s Bark”. Chalky being, of course, local resident Rick Stein’s Pooch.  The “Bite” is a glorious ale with a little bit of a kick, the “Bark” is brewed a touch weaker at 4.5% and lightly flavoured with fresh ginger. Both perfect summer refreshers.

And also on this mecca of a site for beer lovers, you can buy The Eden Project’s own Ale, which I loved. Quality wise, this is up there with every other Eden project product we have seen before. Tastewise, it’s a very close runner up to the Mighty Doom Bar!
