The concept of a toy controlled by a digital watch remote control would have really got me very excited as a child. At the very least I would have been scribbling a letter to Santa ASAP.

Come September Wesco will be offering such a device - named the Whizz Watch

Using a Whizz Watch mini remote control - characters can be raced around the kitchen table, desk or floor, controlled by a matching LCD watch.  Appealing to sci-fi fans and gadget lovers, the watches feature movie favourite R2D2 from Star Wars and a dreaded Dalek from Dr Who.

Each watch contains infrared controls and the miniature vehicle clips onto the watch strap when not in use, making it portable.  Unclip the vehicle, switch on and off you whizz. 

Whizz Watches are suitable for children 4+ and will be priced at around £14.99.
