Don’t know your Bordeaux from your Beaujolais? There’s nothing worse than knowing naff all about wine and the waiter coming over and babbling on about ‘this grape and that grape’ and truly not having a clue why he’s getting so excited!

Those days are long gone now that Michael Schuster’s Wine Tasting School has launched offering courses for beginners through to individual tastings. According to Jancis Robinson, his courses are the best in London!

The advanced course runs for six evenings and costs £375. It’s held at a specially designed school at the Bordeaux Index office at 10 Hatton Garden, London, and boasts a tasting room, lecture area, bespoke tasting bench, kitchen and dining facility.

If you are more of a beginner then the Beginner’s Course is an introduction to basic tasting techniques, covering the world’s major grape varieties, sampling 40 different wines. The course runs for six evenings and costs £255.
