An Iconic Digital Camera Gift

We like it when a product is sleek, small and busting with functionality don’t we. The Nikon Coolpix S6 ticks some boxes in that respect and therefore may make a wonderful present for someone. Plus it’s endorsed by the beautiful Kate Moss – so it must be great right!

According to Nikon via LetsGoDigital:

“Nikon Coolpix S6 : Nikon Corporation is delighted to announce an exciting new camera, the Nikon Coolpix S6. The Nikon S6 has been built with the sharing and enjoyment of digital photography in mind, combining high-quality imaging performance with a striking wave-surface design, the ability to improve images in-camera, outstandingly large LCDs and a powerful new Pictmotion function that allows users to create entertaining in-camera shows. The Nikon Coolpix S6 digital camera has been specially designed to be visually appealing as well as easy to use. The eye-catching wave-surface designs are more than just about great styling, its thin, compact dimension and form make the Nikon Coolpix S6 really comfortable to hold.”

Now that sounds like the usual sales patter you hear from a manufacturer trying to flog it’s product but we at Iconic Gifts have played around with this camera and it definitely has some nice features/design. It may not be the very best money can buy, but retailing at around $350 (£250) it offers great value for money with more features and functionality than you’re ever going to properly use.

Here’s what this baby can do:

• Highly compact dimensions of (W x H x D) of 100.5 x 60 x 21mm (3.9 x 2.4 x 0.8 in.) – I think this is a nice compact size
• Light weight (without battery and memory card) Approx. 140g (4.9 oz.)
• 20MB (approx.) of internal memory, SD Card compatibility
• Best Shot Selector identifies and saves the sharpest shot automatically – Great little feature as I am forever taking blurred shots
• USB connectivity supports easy transfer of data to computers and other peripherals
• Swift start up of 0.8 seconds – Slow start up is a fault of many older digital cameras. To my cost I missed a wonderful shot of a breaching humpback whale because of a long delay startup.
• Help Button provides easy-to-understand explanations for functions on main menu
• Blur Warning informs user after shooting if an image is blurred
• Noise Reduction produces better results during low-light conditions
• Rechargeable EN-EL8 Li-ion Battery (supplied) can shoot approx. 200 shots
• Field Jacket FJ-CP1 water-resistant case (optional) for underwater depths of 3 meters – This is brilliant, no more rubbish disposable waterproof cameras
• Dock Insert PV-10/PV-11 (supplied) enable direct printing
• Voice recording available for duration of up to 5 hours

Stuck for a gift idea – the Nikon Coolpix S6 could be worth a look.
