Chocolate Making for Two with BuyAGift.co.uk – Reviewed

The perfect Valentine’s Day gift? Chocolate is one of the best ways to a lady’s heart (and some men for that matter), so we were super excited to hear about a wonderful chocolate making day for two, from BuyAGift.co.uk. BuyAGift has a selection of chocolate making sessions available, but we were lucky enough to review a session run by Chocolate Craft in New Alresford, Hampshire.

The day kicks off with a warm welcome and an introduction to Chocolate Craft. Chocolate Craft have experience making treats for Harrods, so they certainly know what they are talking about! Coffee and Tea is available too and we felt right at home. Once the early pleasantries had finished, our chocolate adventure could begin.

Over the course of the 2 and a half hour session we would learn how to make our very own chocolates from scratch and we would also have a competition to see who could design the best chocolate lolly pop. There were about 10 of us and the group dynamic was really vibrant and a bit giggly (mainly due to the imminence of chocolatey goodness).

Creating our own chocolates

From start to finish this was great fun! We were taught how to make the perfect ganache to fill our chocolates with and how best to line our chocolate moulds so we could replicate this at home. To create our ganache we were presented with a plethora of fun ingredients, with everything from champagne to nuts on offer. I went for a passion fruit and champagne made with white chocolate and my partner champagne, raspberry and milk chocolate. To make the ganache we are given gorgeous Belgian chocolate and cream – then we simply had to mix it up. Once complete, we were taught how to pipe the mixture into the mould and how to cover the chocolate with a “topping off layer”. The mould was then put into the fridge and about 20 minutes later we had some divine chocolates to decorate.

In terms of decoration we were taught how to drizzle with chocolate and how to do some basic designs. The results, as you can see below, were great! Each person was give a box to then add their chocolates and then ribbon to finish off. The results were beautiful and we went away feeling really proud of ourselves

Decorating and a competition

While we waited for our chocolates to cool, we were also asked to decorate a chocolate lolly and show off our new piping skills. Some went for ornate flowers and others a more abstract approach. However, every single person was smiling throughout and the morning was fantastic.
