Grab an Easter treat from Aldi

For fun – Philippe Michel Crémant du Jura

A bank holiday weekend wouldn’t be the same without a little sparkle! This sparkling chardonnay is a surprisingly delicate and light offering. With lovely citrus flavours and a fruity aroma, this was a surprise hit for us. According to Aldi, this pairs well with pork, salmon, and tuna – try with grilled salmon and glazed peaches. Well worth just over £7 a bottle. Case of 6: £43.74 / single bottle (75cl) £7.29.

For Easter Sunday – Exquisite Collection: Chateau Gravereau and Chateau Peyredoulle

Easter Sunday is traditionally a day to chow down on delicious red meat, and in particular lamb. With this in mind, you should really consider one of Aldi’s new Bordeaux wines from their Exquisite Collection’s ‘Chateaux Series’. This concise collection gives you the taste of the region at an accessible price. We enjoyed our bottle, but found it to have a slight acidity. If you aren’t having lamb, Aldi also recommend this with duck breasts or chocolate desserts – try with a delicious duck ragu. Case of 6: £41.94 / single bottle (75cl) £6.99

For Good Friday – Exquisite Collection Clairette

If you are looking for a great value white to go with fish on Good Friday, then we would highly recommend the Exquisite Collection Clairette. Clairette is a grape variety from the Languedoc region of Southern France. An aromatic white, it is fantastically refreshing and perfect if the sun comes out (which we are hoping it does!). We tried this with some sea-bass and a salad, with the white working really well against the fish. A great choice. Case of 6: £35.94 / single bottle (75cl) £5.99.
