Root7 Corkcicle Canteen Reviewed (£20)

Shopping for thermal flasks can undoubtedly be a hassle. On the one hand, you want a slim design that’s easy to carry, but you also want it to work well for your hot and cold drinks. Generally speaking, it’s difficult to find both, but Root7 may just have a decent solution for you!

The Corkcicle Canteen is a new product from Root7 that’s just as good as it looks. It’s a thermal flask which is designed to keep cooling drinks cold for more than 25 hours, and hot drinks heated for over 12 hours. In a world of bulky, plastic designs, it’s a breath of fresh air to see such a slimline design made from high-quality materials. You can choose from either a gloss, brushed or matte finish; we had the pleasure of trying the matte finish, which gives you a good grip when out and about. The canteen gives you multiple layers of insulation, and although our hot drinks didn’t last ‘quite’ 12 hours, it was still warm and very drinkable. Interestingly, we also found that the outside temperature of the flask stays relatively stable whether you’re drinking hot or cold drinks. Our favourite feature of the flask is that the wide opening at the top gives you plenty of room to insert ice cubes or pour from a kettle.

The only issue we had whilst testing the flask is that for the size and weight of the product, we would expect it to hold more liquid. This is due to the very efficient insulation layers inside and can’t be avoided with any flask, but we would still recommend going for the medium (475ml) or Large (750ml) sizes. The large flask can hold an entire bottle of wine, so keeping your Sauvignon blanc cold for an evening out has never been easier!
