Sylvanian Families Grand Department Store

If you are anything like us, you’ll always be looking for ways to stimulate imaginary roll play with your young kids and draw them away from screen time. For us, this is what Sylvanian Families does, and the positive effects show in our 5 and 7-year-old girls for sure.

Whilst Sylvanian Families are not necessarily deemed ‘cheap’, there’s a good reason for this, and that is that the cost per play is extensive. These are toys built to last, and in fact, are likely to be used by your children’s children in years to come. A good investment from our perspective anyway.

Each year Sylvanian Families release a new batch of exciting products, with our daughter often drooling over the catalogue for hours dreaming of the scenarios she could be living out. This year, the highlight of the range has to be the Grand Department Store Gift Set, which is essentially a two-storey department store building equipped with a working lift and revolving door, a look out balcony, a Stella Chocolate Rabbit figure, and the shop floors filled with Boutique Fashion Set, Cosmetic Beauty Set, Fashion Showcase Set, and Chocolate Lounge. There is a lot of toy here!

What’s more (and much like other Sylvanian buildings) the Grand Department Store connects to Delicious Restaurant, Designer Studio and Creamy Gelato Shop. So, in effect you can create your own town!

The attention to detail on the Grand Department Store is fantastic with fancy decorations and engravings in many places. It includes a manual working lift and revolving door and a look out balcony. You can purchase the furnishings separately, which then complete the concessions within the department store. You can open it 90 degrees, 180 degrees or close it completely too.

Trust me, having seen my daughter play for hours with this product and the smile on her face, the Grand Department Store is worth every penny of its £79.99 – £119.99 price tag. Shop on Amazon.
