Xiaomi 70mai Smart Dashcam Review

We recently received a Xiaomi 70mai Smart Dashcam to review, which retails for a very respectable £30 and offers extensive functionality for the price. The first thing to say about the 70mai is that it is incredibly compact and connects to the windshield with ease. It connects to your mobile device via an app, providing crisp HD (1920 by 1080 video) footage.
The camera itself is just 70 grams, so incredibly light, and the manufacturer says it can operate without issue at extreme temperatures from -20 to 60 degrees Celsius. The device has a power button at one end, next to the camera lens, which glows blue when the device is on and green when recording.
The dashcam works equally as well in the daytime as in the evening. The way it works is that a three-axis gravity sensor inside the camera triggers an event video during a sudden stop or other traffic incident. Normally, video is recorded in one-minute loops. When the camera registers an unusual event, it adds an additional thirty seconds. You can watch the camera in real time as well as previous recordings, then archive if you want to.
You’ve two options for controlling the device, through the app or through voice command, but we found the app simpler to use to be honest.
